The Panchachuli Peaks, located in the scenic Johar Valley of the Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand, are a group of five majestic, snow-capped Himalayan peaks that dominate the skyline near Munsiyari. These peaks, which rise to altitudes ranging from 6,312 meters (20,702 feet) to 6,904 meters (22,651 feet), are named Panchachuli after the legendary Pandavas of the Mahabharata, as it is believed that this was their last stop before ascending to heaven.
From Munsiyari, perched at an altitude of 2,290 meters (7,513 feet), the views of the Panchachuli massif are awe-inspiring. The peaks form a striking contrast to the plunging terraced fields and lush valleys of the region, offering photographers and nature lovers an unforgettable visual treat.
The Panchachuli massif serves as the watershed between the Gori Ganga Valley and the Darmaganga Valley, lying on the Gori Ganga-Lassar Yankti divide. Its snow-covered peaks are visible from various vantage points in the Pithoragarh district, making it an iconic landmark for trekkers and travelers alike.
