Char Dham Yatra or the trip to Holy four Places in Uttarakhand is also known as Chota Char Dham dedicated to four sacred places in Hindu Religion, which are Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. The India's Char Dham temple are Badrinath Dham, Jagganath Puri, Rameshwaram Temple and Dwarika Ji. For Chota Char Dham or Small Char Dham temples are located in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state in India. Char Dham Yatra takes about 10 Days to complete from Haridwar to Haridwar or Rishikesh to Rishikesh. The Starting Point of Char Dham Yatra is mainly Haridwar or Rishikesh, where you can reach by trains, flight, Buses and Cars. The Char Dham Yatra goes from Yamunotri Dham, Gangotri Dham, Kedarnath Dham and Badrinath Dham at last.
Day 1: - Start your journey at morning from Haridwar to Barkot. On the Way visit Mussoorie Kempty Falls but also note that, due to heavy rush another route is via Vikash Nagar, where Mussoorie and Kempty Falls will not come on the way. After driving through hilly road, you will arrive at Barkot. This is first stop point for the Char Dham Yatra. The travel time from Haridwar to Barkot is 6 to 7 Hours on the easy condition of rush but can be more if there is heavy rush. You can stay in Barkot for the night.
Day 2: - Early Morning, take sip of Tea in hotel and then start your journey towards Yamunotri Dham, Its about 45 Kms from Barkot to reach Jankichatti, where the trek start to Yamunotri Dham. Its about 5-6 Kms trek route, which takes 2 Hours to complete one side, you can also take pony, palki or Doli to reach Yamunotri Dham. Once you reach at temple, visit Maa Yamuna Ji Yamunotri Dham and Darshan, Puja at Temple. after that visit Surya Kund, a Hot Water Spring, where you can take holy dip or you can pack a rice and dal packet and dip into the tapt Kund, after some time you will get the cooked rice and dal, which is known as prasad of Yamunotri Dham. So after Darshan, taking prasad visit surroundings of Yamunotri Temple and then start your return journey to Jankichatti. On arrival take cab and reach Barkot for another Night Stay.
Day 3:- After Breakfast at hotel/ camps, start your journey towards Uttarkashi, its not so far but the route can be hectic as it is hilly road, on the way visit Shiv Gufa and then visit Kashi Viswanath Temple in Uttarkashi. On Arrival at Uttarkashi proceed to Hotel. Stay there for a night.
Day 4:- Early Morning start your journey towards Gangotri Dham, on the way take a holy dip at Tapt Kund in Gangnani, after that leave for Gangotri Dham and on arrival, Darshan and Puja at Gangotri Dham. And then visit Surroundings and then on the way back visit Harsil Valley. Finally Arrive at Uttarkashi. One more stay there for a night.
Day 5:- After morning breakfast, leave for Guptkashi/ Phata, there are two routes one is from Chamiyala to Tilwara and another is via Tehri Dam to Srinagar or Mayali to Tilwara. This is a long distance route, so be prepared for that, you will arrive at Guptkashi/Phata in the evening. Stay there for a night.
Day 6: - Early Morning leave for Sonprayag, where you will get local taxi to reach Gaurikund. The local taxi takes 50 Rupees person charge for the Sonprayag to Gaurikund. Once you reach Gaurikund you need to show the Passes of Yatra registration and then the trek will start towards Kedarnath Dham. There are many small refreshment shops on the way for trekkers where you can eat rest for some time. After trekking of 21 Kms you will arrive at Kedarnath Dham. On arrival directly visit the Temple and Darshan at Lord Shiva Kedarnath Dham. After that reach to Hotel/ Camps and then stay there for a night. Evening you can visit Surrounding of Kedarnath Dham.
Day 7: - Early morning darshan at temple and then visit the Bhukunda Bhairav Ji Temple, which is about 500-700 Meters trek distance from Kedarnath Temple and visit Sankaracharya Ji Samadhi and more. After that take a good breakfast and start return trek journey to Gaurikund. Once you reach Gaurikund, take local cab to reach Sonprayag and then take another cab from Sonprayag and then return to Guptkashi or Phata for a night Stay.
Day 8: - After morning breakfast leave for Joshimath via Chopta Valley and its about 6-7 Hours journey by road, so be prepared for that. Once you reach Joshimath visit the Narsing Devta Temple and local Market. Stay for a Night.
Day 9:- Early Morning leave for Badrinath Dham, its about 45 Kms from Joshimath to Badrinath and takes about 1-2 Hours to reach. Once you reach Badrinath Dham, take Holy bath in Tapt Kund and then proceed for Badrinath Dham Darshan and Puja. After that return to Market, have some breakfast and then visit Mana Village, Bhim Shila, Vyas Gufa, Narad Gufa and more place. You can stay here for a night in Badrinath Dham.
Day 10:- Early Morning Darshan at Badrinath Ji Temple and then after breakfast leave for Rudraprayag. On the way visit Vishnu Prayag, Nand Prayag and Karan Prayag. Finally Arrive at Rudraprayag, Stay there for a Night and evening visit the Sangam of Mandakini and Alaknanda River.
Day 11:- This is the last day of your trip, so don't worry about waking up at early Morning, enjoy the sleep and then after breakfast start your return Journey towards Rishikesh or Haridwar, On the Way visit Devprayag, Dhari Devi Temple and finally Arrive at Rishikesh. You can book train from there or Haridwar to leave for your native place.

The Best time to Visit char Dham Yatra is Summer Season, mainly in May, June and Sept, Oct Months. In this season you can easily visit the temples without any worry.
During Winter Season Char Dham Yatra closes, so Winter is not the time to Visit Char Dham temples of Uttarakhand.
Monsoon starts from Mid June to Mid Sept in Uttarakhand, so be careful for this season, because of sometime Heavy Rain fall which causes Landslide and road blockage. So please check the weather condition before planning a trip to Char Dham during monsoon season.
